10 great apps to make your Valentine’s day a true adventure

Adrian Tudor

Valentine's Day

It’s that great time of the year that reminds us of that special person. Our mind suddenly starts to pull on our sleeve like a child and screams in our face ,,Hold on a minute, take a step back and pay attention!”. We remind ourselves how lucky we are, especially considering how screwed up this world is.

We use our phones to call our loved one, for texting, sending videos, jokes, to say that we miss them, to say goodnight and even make them curse us when we wake them up in the morning just to be the first one to say ,,Hey!”.

But we all lead very hectic lives, especially in this hyper fast, digitally catalyzed world, we’re on the run and we often find ourselves with a heavy amount of lack of time on our hands. We want to give to that special person a day to remember. And they deserve it damn it! Yet planning for that occasion can take up a lot of time, which we sadly, rarely have. Chocolates and flowers sometimes just don’t cut it.

Worry not, for we’ve made up a great list to never fall behind on the romance and show that you don’t just care, but that you can take them on an adventure, and all you’ll need for that, is your phone.

Created by TenthBit Inc., this app takes normal social connection features like messaging, multimedia sharing, and location access and many more to just one purpose. Allowing you and that special someone to have your own private social network.

Couple (available in both the App Store and Google Play) is a great way to show that special someone that you’re committed to always be near them on Valentine’s Day.

#3 Find Chocolate

Let’s be serious, buying that stereotypical heart shaped box of chocolates by the bucket doesn’t impress a lot of people nowadays. So instead of doing that, Find Chocolate helps you by giving you a list of respected chocolatiers and chocolate shops near you (note: some of them can actually write a dedication in chocolate in just a few minutes) to surprise and delight your Valentine.

As you could guess, yep, it’s free and an Android and iOS.

#4 Amazon Mobile App

In a jam and need a quick gift? Don’t fret and start running on the streets like a nut with tunnel vision and use this quick tool to find stores and gifts.

The Amazon Mobile app allows customers to browse and shop by department, search, compare prices, find deals, read reviews and make a purchase right from their mobile device. Customers are able to shop any of Amazon’s sites around the world from a single app.

#5 Love quotes

You might have a really screwed up day at work, your mind has been turned to mush because of your boss or maybe you just have a brain freeze from exhaustion.

Love quotes is a great app that helps you verbalize those feelings, gathered from immortal books, poems, songs and movies.

#6 OpenTable

What Valentine’s Day date can be complete without a romantic dinner to a restaurant, candle light, smooth music and no annoying babies screaming in your ears five feet from you? But which one to pick? It’s a special occasion so the place has to live up to expectations.

Well, OpenTable is an app that helps you find the nearest restaurants, get a reservation, find a parking spot and see reviews to make sure you’re in the right place. You can download it for iOS right here.

#7 Valentine’s Day music radio app

Music is one of the oldest expression of love, that often times trumps words. You can set the mood to anything, listen to any artist or song, from a passionate jazz saxophone, romantic piano, ageless rock love songs, you name it. The app speaks for itself. You can find it here and it’s free.

#8 Re:beat

For those that can’t make it to see each other on Valentine’s day, either because of work schedule, delayed flights, being too far away or in another country, Re:beat allows you to record your own heartbeat and send it to that someone to whom you want to be close to. It’s an ingenious way to bring people together, much like laying your head down on your lover’s chest.

You can find it for both iOS and Android and it goes to show you that the human heart never stops making the impossible real.

#9 Hello Vino

Let’s say you’re at a restaurant and having a great time. Wine is for lovers, the old saying goes, but the question is, what kind of wine? This cute little app can help you pick a wine based on wine ratings and tasting notes, or based on food pairings or your taste preferences. It can even recognize a wine based on the label. For Android, you can find it here and if you’re the iOS type, you can download it from this link.

So become a wine connoisseur in just a few minutes and make that romantic dinner a lasting memory.

#10 Nightsky

The day is over, and you and your loved one are sitting somewhere, gazing at the sky and smiling to yourselves. But it doesn’t have to end here. Nightsky is an app that takes a quick chart of whatever stars are up there in your field of vision, it names them and actually make that old saying ,,I wish I could have given you the sky” come true. iOS supported and the sky is free.

From here on now, it’s your move to take the 14 of February to a new romantic experience. We hope these apps will bring you and your loved one closer together and help write a great chapter of adventure and be one of those days you’ll carry around for the rest of your life with a smile on your face.
