Mobile advertising is becoming to the fastest-growing ad channel due to the proliferation of smartphone devices and tablets. As of December last year, according to CTIA – The Wireless Association, 63.2 million Americans own a smartphone and about 35 percent of them access the mobile Internet from their device. The rest of the world, especially the Western Europe, registers a similar trend.
Worldwide mobile app revenues will experience similar growth, surpassing $35 billion in 2014. Application developers have created more than 500,000 mobile apps in just over three years, and the good news is that those apps are starting to generate more revenue. Borrell Associates estimates that spending for ads delivered via mobile apps in the U.S. will explode from $305 million in 2010 to $685 million in 2011 and more than $8 billion by 2015.
The consumer adoption of mobile apps and the increasing mobile Web traffic have brought mobile advertising into marketer’s attention. The majority of top brands are using mobile ads, finally understanding that mobile the mobile channel needs to be in the communication plans to reach your target.
